Every choice has a hidden cost
By the end, you will be able to
identify what you give up when you make a choice.
The essential idea
Our needs often exceed the time and money available. Opportunity cost is the best alternative you give up. It may not appear on a receipt, but it belongs in the decision.
In everyday life
With 10,000 FCFA available, paying for a gas refill may mean postponing an internet bundle. The opportunity cost of the gas is the use of the bundle you give up.
Teaching example: these amounts are not observed prices.
Remember
Before buying, ask: “what must I give up?”
